How to Add a Control Panel to the Metro Start Screen in Windows 8

Generally, there is no shortcut to access to the Control Panel in Windows 8. To get into the Control Panel, you need to perform several steps and many users feel that it is pretty irritated. Now, this post offers a guide to create a Control Panel tile to the Start Screen. Please keep reading and follow the steps below.

Step 1: when the machine is launched, go to the Desktop. Now right-click on a blank space and go to New and click Shortcut on the sub menu.


Step 2: then you will be required to choose a location to store this item. Please type in %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} and click Next.

Step 3: please type in Control Panel as the item’s name and click Finish

Step 4: please right-click the shortcut which was just created and click Properties


Steps 5: Then the Control Panel Properties will be opened. Now you should click on the Change Icon button


Step 6: type “%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll” in the texbox and choose the Control Panel icon and click OK


Step 7: now go to the new shortcut and right-click on it. Then, select “Pin to Start” from the dropped menu.


Step 8: go to the Start Screen to check if the Control Panel is on there or not.
