How to Change Startup Programs in Windows 8

If you want to configure the startup programs in Windows 7, you can access to the System Configuration utility by clicking Start Menu, and then typing “MSCONFIG” and hit Enter. Go to the Startup tab, which will show you all of the startup items. To stop the programs to boot up together with your Windows, you simply unchecked them. However, if you are a Windows 8 user, this won’t work. So, how to manage the startup items in Windows 8? Actually, the startup programs have transferred to the Startup section of the Task Manager in Windows 8. To access to the startup section and disable the startup items, follow this:

Step 1: open the Task Manager by bringing up the Search bar and type “task” and click the Apps


Step 2: click Task Manager from the search results on the left side of the screen

Step 3: click on the arrow button next to More details

Step 4: navigate to Startup tab, Now you can see the list of all startup programs

Step 5: To disable a startup program, you have to right-click on the item and click Disable.
