How to Change Your Computer Name in Windows 7

What is the computer name? It is a name that can distinguish your computer from others on network. You might be annoyed by the default name of the computer because it seems rather inhuman. So, why not choose a name to make your computer more human? To learn how to change your computer name, read this article.

Step 1: Click Start Menu and click Control Panel

Step 4: Search for the “Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings” panel, and click the Change settings link

Step 5: go to the Computer Name tab, and click Change

Step 6: when you get the Computer Name/Domain Changes window, you can type anything except those characters: /\ [ ] ” : ; | + = , ? * _(caret, square brackets, quotation marks, colon, semicolon, plus, equals, comma, question mark, underscore and space) to name your computer in Computer name context.

Step 7: tap OK and you will be required to restart your PC. Please click OK to restart the Windows and take this change into effect.
