How to Enable the Delete Confirmation Dialog in Windows 8/8.1

If you are one of the Windows 8/8.1 users, you must be very irritated by the mistaken of deleting some files of apps. That’s because when you press the Delete key by mistake, you won’t get the delete confirmation dialog box but only get the result that the files you just deleted mistakenly are moved to Recycle Bin immediately. So, if you don’t mean to delete that file, the delete confirmation dialog is surely needed. Now, let’s lean how to enable the delete confirmation dialog box in Windows 8/8.1 and you can avoid some mistakes.

Step 1: press Windows + R hotkeys to get the Run dialog and type gpedit.msc in the box, and then press Enter

Step 2: When you come to the Local Group Policy Editor window, locate to the following folder:

Local Computer Policy→User Configuration→Administrative Templates→Windows Components→File Explorer

Step 3: Search for Display confirmation dialog when deleting files in the right panel and double-click on it.

Step 4: You will get the following window, and now, select the Enable feature and click OK

Now, you can enjoy the feature. Note: If you don’t want to get the confirmation dialog appear later, you can choose Not Configured or Disabled and then click OK to remove it.
