How to Prevent a Mouse from Waking Computers Up from Sleep Mode

When you stop working on your computer temporarily, you can switch your PC to the sleep mode, which will help you effectively save power and reduce wear on computer’s hardware. However, each time you slightly tap the mouse, your PC wakes up from the sleep mode soon. What is going on? In fact, your mouse is set by default to wake up Windows system. If you want to make the mouse exit to sleep mode, please check out the following tutorial.

1. Click on Start button and then pull out the Start Menu. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Mouse.

2. In the Mouse Properties, click on the Hardware tan and select your mouse from the list of devices. When it is done, click Properties button.

3. In the Properties, click on the Change Settings button on the General tab.

4. When the window opens, click the Power Management tab and un-check the “Allow this device to wake the computer” option. Click OK button on this window and click the Ok button on the Mouse Properties.


From now on, you don’t need to worry that a slight tap on the mouse can wake up your PC from sleep mode.
