How to Remove Shortcut Arrows from Desktop Icons Easily

You may notice that you put whichever shortcut on your desktop, there will be an arrow on that icon, which is in the bottom left side corner. This arrow is a sign to tell you that this is a shortcut of the program or file. In fact, you can remove this arrow with a few steps. Now, you can get a tutorial to learn how to remove those arrows from your desktop icons.

Step 1: press Windows + R to get the Run dialog and type “regedit” and hit Enter

Step 2: Then you will come to the Registry Editor window, now navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons

Step 3: Click the Shell Icons to active it, and then, in the right-hand pane, you’ll see just a key named Default. Now, Right-click on any blank area in the right-pane and select New, and click String Value.

Step 4: Please name the New Key as 29 by right-click it>rename>type 29

Step 5: Then double-click on that new key. Copy and paste the following to the Value Data field:

Step 6: Click OK and restart the Windows. Now, you can see that the arrows should be gone from your desktop icons.
