How to Show More or less Apps on Start Screen of Windows 8.1

For some Windows 8.1 users, they would like to display less apps on their Start Screen because less apps showing means tiny. And by default, it is clear the number of apps is less. However, for other users, they may want to display more apps on their start screen so that they can use them easily without scrolling and search for the wanted apps. This tutorial aims at helping users solve this issue.

Solution 1

Step 1: when you are on the Start Screen, please hit Windows and I keys together to make the Charm bar appear. Then click on Tiles.

Step 2: when you get another list, you should move the slider of Show more apps in Apps view from No to Yes.

After finish the above steps, you can go to the Start Screen to check if there are more apps showing up on your screen.

Solution 2:

Step 1: when you are in the Desktop Mode, please hit Windows and R keys at the same time to get the Run box. When the box pops up, please type “Regedt32.exe” and click OK.

Step 2: when you come into the Registry, please navigate to this location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid

Step 3: search for Layout_ShowMoreAPVApps in the right side and double-click it.

Step 4: after you finish the above step, you will get the following window. By then, please change the Value data from 0 to 1 and click OK to save the changes.

Now you can go back to the Start Screen to see if it takes effect or not.
