How to Take Screenshots in Windows 8/8.1

Solution one to take a desktop screenshot

If you want to capture the whole PC screen, you only need to hit Windows+Prtscr at the same time. Then go to this path: My Pictures/Screenshot, and you will see the screenshot is displayed there.

If you don’t want to save the screenshot in My Pictures/Screenshot, you can press the Prtscr key only to capture the whole screen and paste it to wherever you like and save it.

Note: some users may do not have the Prtscr key. If you are one of them, you can hit Windows+Volume down hardware key together. Then the screenshot will be saved in My Pictures/Screenshot as well.

If you just want to capture a single window, please click on it to active the window and press Alt+Prtscr at the same time to capture the window. Then paste the screenshot of the window to wherever you like such as word or other programs.

Solution two to take a screenshot

You can Use Snipping tool to capture the screenshot. To do this, please follow these steps:

1 Press Windows+C to get the Charm Bar and type “snipping” to search the tool.

2 Then click Snipping tool in the search result. And the Snipping tool will be launched.

3 select what you want and click Save and choose a location to store the screenshot.
