Tips to Disable Control Panel and PC Settings in Windows 8/8.1

Your computer could not remain the same when it is shared to your family and friends. If you want to avoid this trouble, you can disable access to Control Panel and PC settings. The following tutorial will show you how to disable the option in Windows 8 and 8.1.

1. Go to Desktop and then hit Win + 8 keys to open Run box.


2. Type the command “gpedit.msc” into the Run box and click OK.


3. In Local Group Policy Editor window, expand User Configuration and click Administrative Templates then select Control Panel at the left pane.

4. Double-click on Prohibit access to the Control Panel at the right pane.

5. A new dialog will pop up and then check Enabled, click OK button and close the window.


As a result, the user will be unable to find the Control Panel in the Start Menu. If he tries to look for the option, they will see a pop-up error.
